Boy or Girl????

Bret happened to have today off and was able to come with me to my doctor's appointment. I was so happy that he could be there to find out that we are having a.......GIRL!!! Yay! The way Bret announced it on Facebook is "We went to Chick-Fil-A to celebrate we are having a chick that begins with an A. lol... ALIZA MARIE JOHNSON. :) IT'S A GIRL!!!!" Bret is so funny. I just love his sense of humor. He always makes me laugh and I love that about him. We are excited to have a girl. On my side there is 7 grandchildren and only one girl. On Bret's side their are 3 grandchildren and all boys. So both sides it is time for a girl. The way we are spelling her name looks like my name Alisa and then for her middle name she is named after my sister Marie. I love my sister so much and I am happy to have a daughter that can have her name. She has always been a great example to me and we have helped each other through our hard times. For this reason Bret and I wanted to have our children to be close in age so that they can be each others friend and help each other through their challenges. That is why we have been put into families so that we can help and strengthen each other. I love being a mom and I am ready to bring another bundle of joy into our family.  I can't wait to hold her in my arms and take care of her.

Here is a catch up of some things that we have been doing these past 2 weeks. Youth Conference was last Friday and Saturday (July 13th and 14th). Every year it rotates location and last year it was in North Carolina and this year it was here. Bret had off on Friday so I was able to go be with our Youth and know that Mark would be okay at home. He did really well for Bret, but towards the end of the day he was wondering were mom was. I was gone from 8am to 10pm. Bret is gone a lot with his schedule right now so Mark doesn't get to see him very much. So it was good for both of them to spend sometime together. This is what Bret wrote on facebook about his day with Mark.
"Marximus did some funny things today that were unique. He at dinner time got homesick for Mom, and he looked away and looked back at me hoping I would become Mom. It was funny. He didn’t cry, but you could see that look in his eye. This was the first day I babysat him the whole day. Then when we were sitting on the ground, he looked at my face and then my arms and again did this three times and analyzed me very keenly with his eyes trying to see if I would suddenly become Mom. Haha… It was funny. He did it twice. Then, he got really funny and hyper and started laughing for a good 15 minutes to anything I said or did. Haha… Then I put him in his crib, and I said, Are you going to be good big brother for your sister Aliza? And immediately he shook his head really strong back and forth 4 times!!!!! I’m not even kidding! Haha, I’ll pretend you meant yes Mark my son since you haven’t learned your head shakings yet or its timeout for you. Haha..." When I came home Bret was really happy and I could tell that he really enjoyed the day with his son. He took great care of him. A couple days later Mark started saying "da,da,da,dad". He just needed one day with dad and now he says it all the time. He says "mom" and very clearly especially when he is sad or hungry. Also from that night with dad he now shakes his head "no" all the time.

All ready for church and matching with mom...

Picture of us at Youth Conference
This year at Youth Conference we had Jericho Road come and perform for us. It was really good.

Mark and I went to Youth Conference for part of the day on Saturday and watched Jericho Road perform. A man behind us put his sunglasses on Mark and right when I took the picture Mark pulled the sunglasses down. So cute!

This week I took a Navy class called "Compass" for 3 days 9:30-1:30pm and they had babysitting for Mark. He really enjoyed being in there with the other kids and with all the toys. Our base just got this program and it was great. It had lot of great information to help us Navy wives. I really enjoyed it. They gave Mark and our baby on the way a compass bib, so here is a picture of Mark wearing his bib. In this picture Mark is doing his new face expression. He learns a new expression or new sound and then does it all the time for a month or so and then moves on to a new one. He is doing a new sound now that he does with his lips and he doesn't do his lion roar sound anymore. That one was really cute. Well, at least I got that one on video.

This is how Mark looked this morning when he got up. Look at his hair. His hair is getting long and curly.

Mark sucking on his toes...

Every third Friday of every month we do a missionary movie night/activity. It gives us members a chance every month to invite our friends to an activity. We can do our part by inviting then it is up to them to come. And last night we did an activity that was good for the whole family. We did a cook out with hot dogs/hamburgers and people could bring a side dish or a dessert. Then we had a church movie set up in the rooms in Spanish and English for those who wanted to watch a movie. We had a lot of members and missionaries bring people.  It was a great turn out.  Then today we had a RS service auction activity. This activity is so much fun. They had a list of different things with points by them and if you have done them then you get those points. Then you add up all your points and use those points to bid on different service that people signed up to do. Like some people signed up to babysit, make a dinner, make quilt, hair cut/highlights and etc. My service was babysitting and I made 3 tie onesies. And then with my points I won homemade pizza, homemade baby blanket and homemade baby shoes. Which I am very excited to try this Sister's homemade pizza and I am excited to have a nice baby blanket for our little one who will be born in December and then I won my friend's extremely cute homemade baby boy shoes. She did such amazing job. So I went home and made a bib to go with the shoes for church. I probably need another project that I can make fast without a sewing machine, but the ties are fun and easy to make. I got the pizza for Bret because he loves pizza and would be so happy if we had pizza every night. This a fun activity and everyone goes
home with a service.

Happy 4th of July

We wish all of you a happy 4th of July to remember our country's freedom and all the people who have and are now fighting for our country.

Last night for mutual we had our combined YW/YM's activity. We did a scripture chase dance. We would say a scripture and the one who finds it first picks a song, then everyone dances. It was a lot of fun. Since it was the day before 4th of July we did a patriotic theme. Bro. Turok our 1st counselor in the bishopric had a friend who needed his old huge flag to be folded up to be burned. When I am talking about huge I mean huge. It took up our whole cultural hall. It was really neat for the YW & YM to experience this. This is something that they will probably always remember.

We kept it simple and did chips, 7 layer dip, cookies and lemon water. It was perfect!
We made this flag and the stars for one of our mutual activities.
The store bought patriotic sugar cookies are a huge hit. The youth love them and rather have them then homemade, so that works for us.
I made 7 layer dip and made it into a flag. You got to love pinterest with all those great ideas!

He will just stare at books for a long time. He will stare at his fingers as he moves them. He is trying to figure things out.

His hair is a little curly on top. He has my naturally curly hair.

He jumped on his jumper right when I took this picture, but I got his great smile.
There is our happy boy!
